PSSA State Carnival – Day One

Over 280 young footballers from around the state travelled to Blacktown Olympic Park today for day one of the PSSA State Carnival.

A team of 23 players will be selected from the week to compete in the School Sport Australia Championships being held in Perth later this year.

Today at the carnival, the students got a rare insight into the life of an AFL player as former Geelong dual premiership winning captain, Tom Harley, traded in his football boots for a whistle as he took to the stage as an umpire for the Barrier and Sydney South West match.

Harley also took the opportunity to speak to the players and their parents providing encouragement and congratulations to the developing young footballers.
