Sanson going for his 8th Premiership
Nathan Sanson is one of the most experienced finals campaigners in the Northern Riverina. This year he will play in his 13th Grand Final.
Sanson was born and raised in Lake Cargelligo where he has played majority of his football.
After coaching Lake Cargelligo for three years, Tulligibeal approached him to take on their player/coaching role
“I was convinced to go to Tullibigeal and coached out there for three years.”
In 2013 in Tullibigeal, Sanson coached the side to an undefeated Premiership.
“It was unreal, but I didn’t have the best start to the year. Within the first couple of weeks I did my ACL, I missed majority of the second half of the season but came back for the Grand Final and in 2014 we did it again”
Sanson returned to Lake Cargelligo for the 2016 season, where they were defeated by Tulibigeal in the Grand Final
“It was always going to be hard to play against your friends, but I suppose if Lake wasn’t going to win it, it was good to see Tulli get up.”
When asked what was his most memorable Grand Final, Sanson replied, “Winning any Grand Final is an achievement in itself, I don’t put any higher than the other, they are all special moments.”
“Although the first year I coached Lake in 2008, we only won 5 games throughout the season but went on to win the Grand Final. I will never forget that year, my first year coaching as well as everyone writing us off. It was a great feeling.”
On Saturday, Lake Cargelligo will verse Tullibigeal for the Northern Riverina 2017 Premiership.
